OVERVIEW

The Ranger foundation

01

Ranger is a mobile marksman built around range, movement and Focus.

At four or more tiles, qualifying hits build Focus and turn distance into more critical chance. The early Ranger rhythm is about reopening that gap and spending Focus with purpose.

Keep the four-tile line At four or more tiles, qualifying hits build Focus and unlock its precision payoff.
FOUNDATION

Range is part of the kit

Class choice grants +20% Ranged Damage, +8 Crit Chance, +15 Move Speed and +25 Max Health.

TRADEOFF

Distance has to be maintained

Focus generation and its precision payoff require four or more tiles. Trailblaze helps reopen that gap, but it does not bypass obstacles.

CONFIRMED FOUNDATION

What is established today

02
One of four classes

Ranger is one of the four public base classes: Warrior, Sorcerer, Ranger and Rogue.

Chosen at level 20

Characters begin as Exiles and choose a class at level 20.

Starter spells matter

Starter spells are part of the current class foundation.

Numbers, rotations and build recommendations will be added when they are ready to describe confidently.
COMBAT FOUNDATION

Focus, distance and precision

03

Ranger combat is built around the four-tile line. Qualifying ranged hits build Focus, distance turns Focus into crit chance, and Deadeye Shot gives the meter a clear spend.

Focus

Focus is the Ranger's precision meter. Qualifying hits from four or more tiles build it, while the meter turns that distance into more critical chance.

Range 0 to 100
Build +10 at 4+ tiles, +8 on evade
Marks 30 / 60 / 90
Fade 4s grace, then 15/s
At four or more tiles, Focus adds up to 15 percentage points of Crit Chance at 100 Focus. Deadeye Shot requires and spends 30 Focus. If Focus stops being refreshed, it waits 4 seconds before fading at 15 per second.
The practical rhythm Stay at four or more tiles to build Focus and benefit from its precision payoff. Use Trailblaze to reopen the gap, then spend 30 Focus on Deadeye Shot when the shot is worth the resource.
STARTER KIT

The current Ranger abilities

04

These are the six current Ranger starter abilities. Their Focus and distance roles matter more than a fixed rotation, so the notes below focus on what each one changes.

RANGE CONTROL

Frost Bite

Wound and slow a foe while keeping the Ranger's distance advantage.

14 Mana 4s cooldown Single enemy, range 6
18 base Ice damage and a 4-second Slow that reduces Move Speed by 60. At four or more tiles, qualifying contact builds 10 Focus and uses pre-shot Focus for precision.
FOCUS BUILDER

Piercing Shot

Line up enemies for a narrow physical shot.

10 Mana 2.5s cooldown Beam, range 6, up to 3
28 base Physical damage. Qualifying contact from four or more tiles builds 10 Focus once per action, regardless of targets, and pre-shot Focus improves precision at that range.
TARGET SETUP

Hunter's Mark

Expose one foe before physical arrows and Deadeye Shot.

12 Mana 8s cooldown Single enemy, range 6
Applies Vulnerable for 6 seconds, reducing Armor by 18. It deals no direct damage, so marking alone does not build Focus.
FOCUS SPENDER

Deadeye Shot

Spend a fixed Focus charge on a concentrated physical shot.

16 Mana 6s cooldown Single enemy, range 6
36 base Physical damage. Requires and spends 30 Focus, adding 2% direct damage per Focus spent, capped at 60%. At four or more tiles, it uses pre-shot Focus for precision and can regain 10 Focus on qualifying contact.
SUSTAIN

Field Dressing

Recover health while keeping the fight at range.

18 Mana 12s cooldown Self
Restores 14 Health every 2 seconds for 8 seconds, starting after 2 seconds. It does not build or spend Focus.
MOBILITY

Trailblaze

Reopen the distance needed for Focus generation and precision.

12 Mana 10s cooldown Self
+90 Move Speed for 4 seconds. It does not build or spend Focus and does not bypass obstacles.
QUICK TIPS

Useful things to watch

Four tiles is the important distance. Qualifying ranged hits there build 10 Focus and enable the Focus precision payoff.
Focus adds up to 15 percentage points of Crit Chance at 100, but only while the target is at least four tiles away.
Deadeye Shot needs 30 Focus and spends that fixed amount. Its direct damage scales by 2% per Focus spent, up to 60%.
Piercing Shot builds Focus once per action from qualifying contact, even when the beam reaches several targets.
Hunter's Mark does not build Focus by itself because it has no direct damage.
Trailblaze is a distance tool. It gives 90 Move Speed for 4 seconds, but normal obstacles still matter.
Field Dressing does not change Focus, so it can sustain you while the meter stays where it is.
If you stop refreshing Focus, it waits 4 seconds and then falls at 15 per second.
